ASME Sectors
Each sector will be led by a sector council and have the power to establish boards and committees that advise the sector on matters pertaining to specific assignments. All members of the sector are appointed by the Board of Governors and each sector council approves all appointments to boards and committees reporting directly to that sector council. The duties and responsibilities of the sectors shall be as designated from time to time by the Board of Governors. Each sector shall maintain its own operation guide as prescribed by Society Policy.

Standards and Certification
The Standards and Certification Sector, under the direction of the Board of Governors, is responsible for the activities of the Society relating to codes and standards, including related conformity assessment programs.

Technical & Engineering Communities
The Technical and Engineering Communities (TEC) Sector is comprised of a diverse volunteer community representing technologies and ideas through technology groups, technical divisions, and research committees. TEC engages the extraordinary talents of its members to deliver content through existing and new conferences and events, as well as provide resources and subject matter expertise to create new opportunities, for the spread of engineering knowledge. Through these efforts, members grow and develop personally and professionally.

The Public Affairs and Outreach Sector, under the direction of the Board of Governors, is responsible for the coordinated outreach to industry, government, education, and the public. It is responsible for initiatives that address diversity and humanitarian programs.

The Student and Early Career Development Sector, under the direction of the Board of Governors, is responsible for meeting the needs and providing a voice for students and early career engineers.
